Michael Petrik founded CP’s advisory group in 2010, providing a diversified service portfolio supported by eight senior experts. CP’s services drive to enhance the performance, quality and financial results of its clients across industry. Michael is an operations & strategy professional with over 25 years of industry and consulting experience. He brings extensive knowledge in business strategy, LEAN management, manufacturing engineering, launch management, product planning, and marketing & sales. Recent projects include Interim Plant Management and CRO roles driving sustainable business improvements for key clients.
Prior to CP, Michael served clients in director roles at two international consulting companies (Alvarez&Marsal and BBK Europe) from 2007 to 2010. Prior to his consulting experience he worked 18 years for Ford of Europe (with tenures at Cologne, London, and Liverpool). The following is an extract of his roles: Manager Production Planning & Scheduling responsible for the development of operating plans to transform market demands into vehicle deliveries at a volume of 2 million vehicles/year, covering all seven vehicle- and five powertrain-plants with a total workforce of approx. 40.000 employees.
Amongst his achievements was the synchronization of the continuously strong demand and option-mix increases during 2006 and 2007 beyond the installed capacities (up to 118% at individual plants). He and his team, both in London and Cologne, also managed the Diesel-Engine-JV with the French PSA-group.
As Manager Strategic Planning-Vehicle Operations for FoE, Michael led cross-functional teams on various projects in seven plants across six countries. He successfully ran value chain analyses, make-buy studies and supplier-park optimizations. He also developed business plans, scorecards and conducted benchmark studies on Kaizen/Lean concepts at Mazda in Japan.
Furthermore, Michael led numerous project-teams and departments, with positions including Manager Casting & Forging Programs, Manager Powertrain Investment Planning & Project Control, and Powertrain Product Strategy and Business Office. Among his accomplishments, Michael successfully developed and implemented improvement actions, restructured and launched a new European Strategy Planning Group, whilst achieving significant investment reductions for new programs.
He developed plant consolidations, implemented downsizing and capacity expansion projects and delivered launches at a 20% reduced operating budget. Furthermore, he was active in marketing projects for Aston Martin Lagonda in the UK from 2001 to 2003, covering brand strategy & positioning, brand alliances, dealer surveys, and PR activities.
From 1984 to 1987 he started his career at GM’s Adam Opel AG (Rüsselsheim, Germany) within Manufacturing Engineering for engine, chassis, and stamping operations. Amongst his achievements was the design and development of high-speed machining equipment (multispindle, up to 5 drills) for aluminum processing in flexible machining centers leading to a 53% reduction of processing time and 16% reduction of total manufacturing cost.
